SHEEP DOG TRIALS.

Provincial Titles Are Decided at Tai Tapu. In view of the South Island dog trials championship meeting, to be held at Middlemarch next week, considerable interest was taken in the Canterbury provincial dog triads* held on Mr R. M. Morten's Ahuriri property at Tai Tapu, during the past three days. Altogether eight y-nine eo tries were received for the three championship events ar*d, speaking generally, a high standard of work was maintained. At Tai Tapu yesterday the huntaway and slow championship event was completed and taking it on the whole some splendid work was done by the doss. The final runs in the huntaway yesterday were watched with much Interest because it was to be seen that the points would be close on account of the dogs working so well the day before. I. Anderson’s Speed, the winner, kept a good line and was under perfect command. He showed an almost perfect huntaway style and completed an excellent performance in 6min Soscc. Results were:— CLASS 3.
