RACING CONFERENCE

Remits From North Island Clubs.

The New Zealand Racing Conference will hold its annual meeting at Wellington on July 13, and the order paper does not seem to provide any very contentious matters.

The executive will bring forward a motion making certain alterations regarding notifications in the change of ow’nership of horses; also one where a race is divided and there is a cup or trophy, or ot*.er indivisible prize attached. If no agreement can be come to between the owners of the first horses in each division as to who shall take it, the club may decide the question by lot. Anothef remit by tne same body deals with the notification in the official calendar of all horses owned by a disqualified person or horses in which he has any interest. The Wanganui Jockey Club will bring forward a remit that the stipendiary steward shall not remain in the room when the stewards are considering their decision.

The Wellington Racing Club are asking for an amendment to the rules to allow the draw for a race to take place at any time after the acceptances close, and before the horses are weighed out. In giving such authority the president may require the draw to be made in the presence of such persons as he approves. The Taranaki district clubs will move: “ That where two or more totalisator clubs, each with permits for more than one day’s racing, decide to amalgamate, it shall be a condition precedent to amalgamation that one of the amalgamating clubs shall forfeit one or more of its existing days of racing; the days so forfeited to be allotted by the Conference to any totalisator club or clubs whether within or without the racing district in which the amalgamating clubs are situated.” The Auckland district clubs (south) will bring forward a remit that all racing clubs who did not use their totalisator permit during the past season be required by September 30 to state definitely whether they are using their permit during the coining season.
