“FUGITIVE LOVERS.”
Montgomery and Madge Evans Co-starred.
Excitement is the keynote of “ Murder in Trinidad,” starring Nigel Bruce, -Victor Jory and Heather Angel, which heads the well-varied programme at the Majestic Theatre this week. The management is conducting an interesting guessing competition, for wLich the first prize is a wireless set. “ Fugitive Lovers,” a picture crammed with action, thrills, excitement, humour and romance, will open at the Majestic Theatre on Monday. Robert Montgomery and Madge Evans make another successful appearance in the principal roles. Dramatic values, in which the action is rather rich, always assume their correct perspective and comedy, which gives frequent and delightful relief, is drawn with deft touches, while an ever-changing background lends variety, which is secondary in interest only to the undoubted suspense of engrossing ( incident. The excitement begins when a daring escaped criminal boards a transcontinental char-a-banc on which are travelling a chorus girl and her unwelcome suitor, a brusque and burly
“ gangster,” whom she has been endeavouring to elude. It is not hard to guess that convict and chorus girl are destined to supply the romance of the piece, but this is developed to the accompaniment of such tense scenes, as officialdom spreads a gradually tightening net for the recapture of the escapee, that there is no question of the attention ever straying. Box plans at the D.I.C.
