DOG TRIALS.

Results of Events Decided at Tai Tapu. The work of all dogs competing in the second day’s trials at the Canterbury Provincial Dog Trials Association’s championship meeting yesterday was satisfactory, especially when weather conditions are taken into consideration. The trials were continued oil Mr R. M. Morten’s Ahuriri property at Tai Tapu. Thirty-one entries were received from competitors from the West Coast. Marlborough. Canterbury and Otago. Only three dogs completed the course in time in the heading and yarding event. The winning dog, Mr C. H. Smith’s Moss, came within 1 point of the possible. He made a good clean head in lmin 45sec, and lifted his sheep well, pulling quietly to the yard. Moss gave a really good exhibition there, and completed his work in lOmin 17sec. lmin 43sec within the time allowance. There were twenty-six entries in the huntaway and slew class, twelve dogs having completed the course before a postponement was made till to-day. Results were:— CLASS 2. HEADING. PULL AND YARDING, about 600yds. Time, 12min; total points, 56. Entries, 31. C. H. Smith’s Moss, 55 points 1 J. Brown’s Tim, 54 points 2 J.
