Gatherings Held in Town and Country. DANCE AT PREBBLETOty. A successful dance was held in the Public Hall at Prebbleton on Saturday evening when the organising body was the Hornby League Football Club. Music was supplied by Kinsman’s orchestra and extras were played by Miss Rita Kenworthy. Novelty danc?s were also arranged and card competitions were won by Mrs T. Smith, Mrs A. Birch, Mr C. A pleasant evening was spent recently when a party of young people paid a surprise visit to the home of Mr and Mrs Megowan, Bamford Street, Woolston, to celebrate the birthday of their younger daughter, Joyce. The evening was spent in games, dancing and competitions. The music was supplied by Miss Taplin. Competitions were won by Miss Taplin and Messrs C. Griffin and V. Batchelor. His Lordship Bishop West-Watson will preside at the Melanesian and North China Missionary Market which will be opened by Mrs J. Cracroft Wilson to-morrow afternoon in the Men vale Parish Hall. A large-variety of goods will be offered for sale at very low prices, and afternoon tea and supper will be under the supervision of helpers from St Luke's parish. Major Robinson will exhibit the Melanesian moving film at intervals during the afternoon and evening. Native dances and games will be contributed by the pupils of Te Waipounamu, whilst Miss Beryl Steven will speak in connection with her work in China.
