Fifty were crushed to death and scores injured by the collapse of a pilgrims’ hostel in the village of Rahata, near Ahmadnagar, Bombay. The weekly fair was being held in the village when a heavy downpour drove many to shelter in the hostel, on which a big tree fell, wrecking the building.
