LEGAL ABSURDITIES.
Italian Shopkeeper Begins Crusade. LONDON, June 2. Signor Rabaiotti, an Italian shopkeeper, at Haverfordw-est, was recently fined 5s for having sold chocolates on a Sunday. He was so angry that he set to work to inquire about similar absurdities of Sunday trading, including the scope of an archaic Act of 1677. Acting as a common informer, Rabaiotti was instrumental in having newsagents fined for selling papers on Sunday.
He has also discovered that anvone •alking outside his own home can be ummoned under the 1677 Act; so can man whistling in the street on Sunlavs.
He proposes to continue to act as a ■ommon informer until the absurdities if the law are recognised.
