ASHBURTON BOROUGH.
ASHBURTON, June 12. The Ashburton Borough Council met last night, the Mayor (Air W. H. Woods) presiding. The Ashburton County Council wrote stating that it would support the Borough Council’s recommendation that the AVakanui Road be declared a secondary highway. The Ashburton branch of the Labour Party wrote asking permission for Air H. T. Armstrong, M.P., to speak at the Ashburton Domain on Sunday next, at 3 p.m. The request was granted. The Wakanui Road Board advised that it could not accede to a request to pay half the cost of a light at the corner of Trevor’s Road and Wellington Street. It was decided to renew the application and Councillors Robinson and Prattley were appointed to wait on the board at its ntfxt meeting. The Ashburton Relief Committee was granted permission to make a charge for admission to orchestral concerts in the Majestic' Theatre on Sunday, July 1 and July 8
