l Gatherings Held in Town and Suburbs. SURF CLUB'S DANCE. An enjoyable time was spent in the North Beach Memorial. Hall on Saturday night, when the members of the North Beach Surf Club held their annual dance. The committee responsible for .the arrangements consisted of Mrs L. R. Moore, Miss M. Instone, Messrs. J. I M’Alister, A. Brand and A. Dalton, i Music for the dancing was provided by i Percy Butler s Serenaders. Mr L. R. Moore was M.C. Competitions were won bv Miss B. O’Neill and Mr S. Diehl. In honour of her marriage. Miss Iris Atack was fare welled by the members of the Divine Science Fellowship, on Friday evening, at the home of Mrs M. Simpson. Madras Street. .Miss I. Atkinson, on behalf of the members, presented Miss Atack with a case of silvei afternoon tea spoons and forks and a bouquet of carnations, Mrs spoke of the esteem in which Miss Atack was held bv her fellow’ students, and of her valuable service to the cause, and wished her and her husband happiness and success Miss Atack leplied suitably. Effort for Kindergarten Funds. The “butchers’ evening” held in the Sydenham Free Kindergarten recentiy was the first#of a number of piomsion” evenings arranged by the Parents Committee. Thanks to thegenerosn . of Messrs Were, Webb, Nightingal.. Wright and Cash and Carry a prizb given for every dance. The M.C.. Mr P. Cole, and his assiant, Mr Dawson, were dressed as butchers and did much to make the evening a success. Following were t.he lucky joint winners:- - Mr Clements and Miss Udell. Mr White and Mrs M’Ellrov. Mr Medcalf and Mrs Svines, Mr Dorn, Mr Duke, Miss Hnrpei, Miss Diebert. Mr Hepburn. Mis UP-‘-ir„. Mr and Mrs Sutherland. Novelty dances were won bv the following:—Lu< ky cpnr. Mr M’Neill and Miss Medcalf. Mi's Cole and Mr Thompson. Mrs Clements and Miss Harper: married couples wal .a, Mr and Mrs Thompson: Monte Carlo. Mrs and Miss Brown: lucky ticket. Mr Sutherland. B-nfleld’s barnl provide-, the music and Messrs Cole and Thompson played extras. Euchre Tournament and Dance. The Shirley School Entertainment Committee held its fortnightly euchre tournament and dance in the school on Saturday night. Despite the incleinert weather there was a good attendance. Approximately sixty couples danced t-‘ the music of Maurice Adcock’s orchestra. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr and Mrs Tunnicliffe. The prizes at the euchre tournament were won by the following:-—Mrs M. Jeai and Mr M. Fanils 1. Mrs J. H. Mills and Mr H A. Kerslake 2. Consolation prizes were awarded to Mrs Tunnicliffe and Mr G. Perrott. Social at Wliarenni. There was a good attendance at the fortnightly euchre tournament and dance held in the Wharenui School on Saturday evening. Dancing was i '.joyed to music supplied by Stamler’s Banff Lucky spot dances were won ny Mr I. Kingston and Miss M. Waller and Al r Storer and Miss Lorna Ivennard. 'ionte Carlo dances were won by Air Sheehan and Miss Ford and Mr I. Colder andMiss M. Tavendalc. The prizes for c-ai d games were won as followsAlen: Mr J. Dunn 1. Miss A. Taggart l. Ladie-v Mrs S.
