HELPING EX-SOLDIERS.
R.S.A. Women’s Auxiliary’s
Assistance.
The annual meeting of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association was held yesterday. Present: Mesdames H. T. J. Thacker <chairman). J. C. Holmes, A. Morten, A. Templar, J. T. Royds. G. T. Baker and L. H. Powell, Misses T. Raphael, C. Rogers, M. O. Brown, A. AI. Cuthbert, E. M. Cuthbert (honorary secretary) and Mrs J. Si Kelly (assistant honorary secretary).
The chairman stated in her annual report that the receipts from the various functions promoted by the auxiliary during the past twelve months amounted to £I7S 2s sd; expenses had been £l] 36s lid. leaving £166 5s 6d,which had been handed to the association for the relief of distress amongst returned soldiers and their families. She thanked the members of the auxiliary for their work.
Officers were elected as follows: Patron, Mrs George Gould; chairman, Mrs H. T. J. Thacker; vice-presidents, Mesdames A. Morten and J. C. Holmes; honorary secretary, Mrs J. 55. Kelly: assistant honorary secretary, Mrs L. H. Powell; honorary treasurer, Miss E. M. Cuthbert; committee, Mesdames W. J. Brown, G. T. Baker, T. J. Lewis, H. A. Bishop, C. J. Treleaven, F. W. W. Dawson, J. I. Royds, E. Davies, A. Templar, A. J. Benzie, Misses T. Raphael. A. Bowker, M. G. Brown and A. M. Cuthbert.
At the monthly meeting of the auxiliary the chairman said that the need fo r assistance for returned soldiers and their families was still great, and the auxiliary would have to use all possible means to raise funds. It was decided to arrange for a bridge party to be held in the Jellicoe Hall on Mondnv, July 2 A special meeting of the auxiliary is to be held on Wednesday. June 27, to complete the arrangements.
