AMERICAN DEBATERS.
Team to Pay Visit to New Zealand. A debating team consisting of Messrs L. M. Spencer and R. K. Bums, of the University of Washington, is at present on a round-the-world tour, with Australia and New Zealand in its itinerary. In addition to debating on numerous political and economic questions, the team is prepared to lecture before Rotary Clubs and other groups on the following general topics:—America’s Search for Culture; the Approaching Pacific Era; President Roosevelt’s New Deal in America—What it Means to the R/st of the World: and An American Student Reviews the Problem: Are Depressions Preventable? Mr Spencer and his colleague have received extensive hospitality during their stay in Japan. They will travel in Manchuria and China before departing for Australia and New Zealand. At a meeting of the Canterbury College Students’ Association executive it was decided to contribute to the cost of the team’s stay in Christchurch. The debaters are expected here in July.
