There was a fair d- mand in the banking section. New Zealands were asked . for at 50s 9d, with sellers standing at 51s 6rf. The coal section again altract- , ed attention. After another sale at ) 245, sellers of Pukemiros raised their reserves to 20. ,c . Northern Roller Mill shares were wanted with 30s offered for ordinaries . and 22s 6d for prefs.. both gilt edges. The mining sections were steady at * week-end quotations. Business became acti\ , e during the S morning, and a good list of sales was reported at noon. The accounts of the Northern Steamship Company fer the year ended March 31 show a net profit of £11,354 after providing for ordinary repairs but not dei preeintion. This amount, together with £40.000 from reserve, has been transferred to the depreciation account. Accompanying the report is notice of a resolution to be submitted to an extraordinary general meeting on May 31. that the capital be reduced from £217.500, divided into 300,000 shares of 14s 6d each, to £165.000 at 11s each, and that such reduction be effected by Cancelling capital which has been lost or is unrepresented by available assets to the extent of 3s 6d per share upon each of the 276,580 shares now outstanding and by reducing the nominal amount of all shares in the company's capital from 14s 6d to Us a share. The four-weekly report covering the period from March 25 to April 21 states that the gold won totalled llloz lldwts for 473 hours’ working. SHARLA ND AND CO. The directors of Sharland and Co., Ltd., have declared an interim dividend of 2i per cent on both ordinary and preference shares. Payment will be made on May 10. The dividend is at the same rate as last year, when payment of an interim dividend was resumed after a lapse of two years.
