Britain to Restrain Eastern Competition. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, May 3. The “ Morning Post ” says that, as a result of negotiations between the Government, the administrators of Crown colonies and Lancashire industrialists, an agreement has been reached to restrain Japanese competition in textiles by means of quotas. It is believed that the president of the Board of Trade, Mr Walter Runciman, will to-day inform the Japanese Ambassador, Mr Matsudaira, that they will be compelled to put the quotas into operation failing an agreement being reached between the two Governments.
