TRAMWAY TRAFFIC.

Board Holds Informal Discussion. The series of informal meetings of the Christchurch Tramway Board to discuss various problems that have arisen in the operation of the undertaking was resumed last evening. At the conclusion of the meeting the chairman (the Rev J. K. Ar.hcr) said that there was nothing but general conversation, in the course of which the whole position in regard to the staff and the tramway system was reviewed. No formal decisions were reached but arising from the discussion some matters might be brought before the board at a later meeting. “No, the question of a rate was not mentioned," replied Mr Archer, when asked if any action had been decided upon in regard to the striking of a tramway rate. He said that the board was waiting for the report of the a countants on the finances of the system before discussing the question of a rate. He expected that the report would be available in the course of a few days.
