C.A.A. BUILDING.

Plan of Reconstruction Decided On. A decision to extend and improve the building owned by* the Canterbury Automobile Association was reached at a meeting of the association’s council last evening. After considerable discussion, in committee, it was unanimously decided to proceed with a scheme of improvements which materially alter the external appearance of the buildings and increase the social facilities of the interior. It is proposed to alter the entrance and extend the office quarters. The assembly hall will be improved and extended. The first floor, which at present includes the billiard room and the lounge, will be enlarged and an extra billiard table added. The top floor, at present occupied by the Canterbury Officers Club, will eventually be converted into a modern dining room and cafeteria and a ladies’ lounge. A lift will also be constructed. The alterations to the building have been necessitated by the increase in membership and the increased popularity of the rooms. It is anticipated I that, when completed, the rooms will J prove very popular with country motorists.
