OVERSEAS SHIPPING.
Representations on Behalf of South Island.
The Canterbury Chamber of Commerce has been advised by the Wellington Chamber that a small deputation had waited on the Overseas Shipowners’ Allotment Committee and the desire of the southern portion of New Zealand for more direct shipping, particularly from the West of England ports, was put forward. It was promised that the matter would be considered and placed before the shipping, authorities in England in accordance with the representation made.
