SAVINGS BANK CHANGE.

Ledger Accounts to be Kept at Rangiora. The growing importance of Rangiora as a commercial centre has been recognised by the Postal Department, which has decided to keep the ledger accounts of Post Office Savings Bank depositors at the local savings bank instead of in Christchurch. The change will take effect as from June 16, and will mean that savings hank depositors in Rangiora will be able to withdraw money on sight instead of having to wait until the withdrawal demands are sent to Christchurch and returned. The only other savings bank in the Christchurch postal district which keeps its own ledger accounts is Ashburton.
