DRAINAGE BOARD.

Reconstruction of Ferry Road Sewer. The Christchurch Drainage Board met last evening, Mr H. G. Livingstone presiding. The engineer (Mr J. Cullens), reporting on the Ferry Road stormwater sewer on Fitzgerald Avenue, to the west side of the premises of New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., said that in connection with the City Council’s present work of reconstructing this 'road, an inspection of the sewers and drains had been made. An inspection made at the portions of sewer exposed showed that pipes were not closely butted and not jointed. In view of the fact that a concrete roadway would be put down, it was advisable that the work of re-conditioning this sewer shou’d be put in hand at once. Mr Walter asked what was the position regarding a proposed drain on the north side of Shirley Road. The secretary (Mr C. F.
