GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

Position of Christchurch Market.

The potato market is practically lifeless, with no demand from the North Island. This is due to th e fact that 5668 sacks went forward by the Waipiata. and up to 2ftoo are expected to be shipped by the Wa-taaarino. Canterbury farmers are not as keen sellers'as they were a fortnight ago. So far the crops have turned out a little better than expected. A large Quantity is still in the ground. The quantities in Canterbury are counteracted to a certain extent by the blight, which is stated to have affected the southern .crops. Supplies of new season's wheat have eased off consioVraldy, and most of the gram coining forward hus been threshed from the stack. The samples generaliy are quite good. Fowl-wheat is not plentiful at the moment, but there is a fair -coastal trade.
