(Special to the “ Star.”) AUCKLAND, April 18. A marked keenness for Government stocks and insurances with a comparative neglect of banking issues are the chief characteristics of Exchange dealings. At the morning call a big list of bank shares was on offer, but there were few buyers. Government stocks, on the other hand, had bidders for every issue and virtually no sellers. A single transaction in 4 per cent 1940’s was registered at £lO3 15s, after which the line was offered at £lO4. In the miscellaneous and mining issues Mahakipawas again attracted attention, with buyers at 7d and holders asking BJd. Moturoa Oils were in demand at 3s 3d and Taranaki Oils at 2s 2d.
