NEW EXHIBITS.

Additions to Canterbury Museum. Recent additions to the exhibits in the Canterbury Museum include a pick head found 500 ft underground in solid rock in the King Solomon gold mines in Rhodesia, South Africa. It is in a rusted condition, but its form is readily recognisable. The pick is believed to have been left on the mine workings long before the present civilisation. Along with the pick are several specimens of gold-bearing quartz from the King Solomon mines. These exhibits are on display through the courtesy cf Mrs Denham, of Opawa. A carpet shark, presented by Mr J. Nicholson, of Ivaikoura, is also included in the new exhibits. The carpet shark haunts deep waters and is not common, a fact that makes Mr Nicholson’s presentation much appreciated by the Museum authorities. A fine fossil presented by Mr A. P. KeysWells, of Cheviot, and a number of Chatham Island newspapers, presented by INI r W. Izard, are other recent additions to the exhibits.
