NOXIOUS WEEDS.

Activities of Cawthron Institute. Per Press Associ-« : on. NELSON. April 16. In connection with the Cawthron Institute’s work for the control of noxious weeds, the attack on ragwort by the cinnabar moth has been supplemented by the introduction of a seedfly, the larvae of which eat out the seed-heads of the ragwort. Piripiri, which is responsible for much loss to the wool industry, has also occupied the attention of the entomological department. Arrangements are in hand for the importation of a suitable insect from Chile, which, it is hoped, will be of great assistance in the control of this noxious weed. !
