PERSONAL.

MINISTERIAL. The Prime Minister (Mr Forbes), who has been visiting Christchurch and his home at Cheviot, left for Wellington by the Wahine last evening. Mr O. F. Nelson left Christchurch for Wellington by the Wahine last evening. Mr Hubert Carter was among the passengers for Wellington by last evening’s steamer. Mr A. T. Donnelly left for Wellington by the inter-island steamer, Wahine, last evening. Messrs C. J. Pugsley and G. F. L. Hazlewood (Wellington) are staying at Warner’s Hotel. Mr S. G. Holland left for Wellington last evening on a brief business visit. Major R. A. Row, N.Z.S.C., was a passenger for Wellington by the Wahine last evening. Mr A. L. Macfarlane, who left Christchurch on Saturday for Wellington, will sail by the Maunganui to-day for a tour of Canada. Mr W. J. Garry, Dunedin manager of the Singer Sewing Machine Company, has been transferred to a similar position in Christchurch. Mr N. L. Freeman, of the State Fire Insurance office, Christchurch, has left on transfer to the Wellington office. Messrs L. L. White (Auckland), E. R. Uhrban (Palmerston North), K. Ramsay (Dunedin) and D. A. Barker ( Kaiapoi) are guests at the New City Hotel. Messrs E. L. Mead. H. W; Clarke, A. Bollard ( Wellington), J. Rosenberg, a. Gisling (Auckland) and J. C. Young (Palmerston North) are at the Clarendon Hotel. The General Manager of Railways, Mr G. H. Mackley, is expected to arrive in Christchurch from Wellington on Saturday. He will travel to Invercargill by the first express. Sympathy with Mr W. A. Rumbold, head master of the Sydenham School, who has been in Lewisham Hospital for some months, was expressed at the annual meeting of householders held in the school last evening. Messrs G. F. Davis, A. Cohen, E. Fauser (Sydney), S. Carruthers, B. E. Mills, L. V. Ellis, R. J. Allender, O. Mears, J. Abel, J. M. Wilkie, S. Monro (Wellington) and C. Bloxsome (New South Wales) are staying at the United Service Hotel. A presentation to Mr James MacKenzie from householders of Spreydon was made at the meeting of householders of the district last evening. It was a bound volume of the school’s jubilee souvenir, including the roll. The chairman (Mr T. A. Coulter), who made the presentation, said that Mr MacKenzie had been largely responsible for the school’s splendid grounds. He was a former chairman and committeeman and the interest he had taken and the work he had done was remarkable.
