MEASLES EPIDEMIC.

Now Believed to be on the Wane. The measles epidemic which has seriously affected the attendances at schools in Canterbury for some time is now believed to be on the wane, though there is still a large number of cnildren affected. The Tycho School, near Timaru, is the latest school to close on account of the epidemic, and the West Spreydon School, which was to have ieuimed this morning, will remain closed for another week. In discussing the epidemic this morning, the Medical Officer of Health at Christchurch, Dr T. Fletcher Telford, stated that the position appeared to be improving, and schools were not closing down now to the extent they were doing recently.
