THE WEEK’S WORK. THE FLOWER GARDEN. Complete the planting of Daffodils. Plant Anemones and Ranunculi. Sow Beauty and Ten-week Stocks, Antirrhinums, Pansies, Sweet Peas. Aquiiegias, Canterbury Bells, Sweet Williams, Hollyhocks, Myosotis can be planted. Plant rooted layers of Border Carnations. Keep the spent blooms of Dahlias cut, also trim up the plants so as to get a display as long as possible. Sow hardy annuals such as Poppies and Godetias. Chrysanthemums must be disbudded and the plants securely tied. Sow Winter and Summer-flowering Sweet Peas. Plant rows of Auricula and Polyanfhus for a good spring show. Top-dress existing lawns. This month is ideal for making new Clear away Asters and other annuals that have finished. THE GREENHOUSE. Shading in most cases should be removed, but where any is needed reduce it to a minimum. Primula sinensis and Cyclamen should be potted on as necessary. Fumigation must be done at frequent intervals. Perpetual-flowering Carnations should have a supply of weak liquid manure. Pot-grown Chrysanthemums should now be inside. Narcissi, Hyacinths and other bulbs can be potted up for early flowers. THE VEGETABLE GARDEN. Sow Spinach, Shorthorn Carrots, Beet and Turnips. Make a sowing of Cos Lettuce. Radish and Mustard and Cress can also be sown every few days. Celery should be earthed up. Most crops have now finished their growth. Remove bad foliage and side shoots before earthing. Leeks must have a little more soil pulled up to them about once a week. g Plant out when soil is ready early sorts of Cabbage and Cauliflowers. Pumpkins, Melons and Marrows that are ripe should be put in store. Tomatoes can be picked as soon as they commence to colour. They quickly ripen under cover and are safe from caterpillars. Cut and burn Asparagus stems, and tidy the bed before covering with a mulch. Brussels Sprouts will benefit from weak liquid manuring. THE FRUIT GARDEN. Gather fruit as it matures. Leave until thoroughly ripe, but do not leave it too long or it will be threshed off bv wind. Cut out all dead twigs on Peach and Nectarines. Prepare ground for Strawberry planting. Gooseberry and other bush fruits can be rooted from cuttings planted now.
