The committee of the Canterbury A. and P. Association decided yesterday to ask for the removal of the embargo on the importation of stock from Great Britain. The matter had been referred to the committee bv the last annual meeting. Mr T. H. Stephens moved that the Govern, ment should be urged to allow shipments Of stock from Great Britain subject to strict Government supervision. Professor Alexander seconded the motion. He suggested a quarantine period of three months. The motion was drafted to read: That the present embargo against the importation of stock from Great Britain be removed and importation allowed subject to the quarantine period in New Zealand being extended to three months. In this form the motion was carried by 18 votes to 9.
