A GREAT PROGRAMME.

Tom Katz Band and “ They Call It Sin.” “You Made Me Love You” rnd “Ladies They Talk About” will be shown finally to-morrow night at the Theatre Royal Tom Katz and his world-famous saxophone band will head the bright new programme to be presented at the Theatre Royal on Saturday. In support of this great vaudeville attraction on the stage, the management will present They Call It Sin,” Loretta Young’s latest picture. That the saxophone is an instrument of art, as well ?s jazz music, is demonstrated by Tom Katz and his band. This talented combination is the best all-saxophone band that has been heard in New Zealand. It is on its way to fulfil a long-term contract at the Palladium, London’s largest music hall. The members present a humorous appearance with their black faces and coloured bell-boy uni forms, but they give the audience what it wants—music all the time. Tom Katz, the leader, is undoubtedly one of the finest saxophonists who has visited New Zealand, and he has wonderful control over his instruments In the hands of these master musicians the old tunes come forth with new and amazing vitality. Sometimes they are low and sweet; sometimes sad and sombre; sometimes radiant and happy, and at all times pleasantly welcome. They are not merely musicians—each one is an artist in every sense of the word.

New York, with its up-to-the-minute swirl of gay life, is the sparkling background against which is etched the drama and comedy of “They Call It Sin.” In this bright film the* blending of drama, comedy and music is made possible by the storv which takes its characters behind the scenes of musical comedy production, night club and penthouse party life, and portrays the love of three men for one girl, who, in turn, loves a man she cannot have. Loretta Young. George Brent and David Manners are the featured players. Box plans at the D.I C.
