PLANE MISSING.
Chinese Air Mail Lost in Fog. TRAGEDY FEARED. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received April 12, 11.55 a.m.) SHANGHAI, April 11. The thirty-six hour search over the sea by air has failed to locate a huge Sikorsky amphibian, which disappeared while carrying mail from Shanghai to Canton. The last wireless from the plane stated that she was lost in a fog over Hangchow Bar and was attempting to return to Shanghai. Then the wireless ceased suddenly. Searching planes and tugs were handicapped by the fog. The Sikorsky carried two American pilots apd one Japanese passenger. This is the second disaster which has befallen the Shanghai-Canton air mail. Last November the initial flight was marked by a tragedy, when the Sikorsky crashed on a mountain on an island in the same locality, due to fog.
