NECTAR IN AMBER.
London Breweries’ Order for 50,000,000 Bottles. LONDON. April 6. After an inquiry that lasted several months, the London Brewers’ Council discovered that beer drinkers like their refreshment in amber-coloured glass. As a result, London breweries have decided to replace the present ouart beer bottles with amber-coloured. They will be shaped like champagne bottles. The first order, for 50,000.000 bottles, means work for 5000 hands for a year. It will take five years to withdraw all the existing bottles from circulation in London. A further point is that the scheme makes bottles interchangeable between all London brewers. Thev can also be used for pasteurised milk. The bottles are being made in Scotland. Lancashire, and Yorkshire.
