WAIMAIRI COUNTY COUNCIL
The Waimairi County Council met last evening. Mr W. P. Spencer presiding. The electrical engineer (Mr C. Burrowes) reported that eight additional constlmers had been connected during the month. The total connected load on the whole system up to March 31 last was 13,970,931 kilowatts. The total number of connected street lamps was now 721 at £3 per lamp per annum. The report was adopted. Mr W. J. Walter brought up the question of tar-sealing Travis Road and asked what was being done about it being started. Ratepayers were getting anxious, he said. The county clerk (Mr G. S. Cowper) said that two tenders had been sent to the Highways Board, but there had been a hold-up because it was considered that the amounts were too high.
