LAWN TENNIS.
Final of Inter-Varsity Doubles. The unfinished final of the men’s doubles championship of the interVarsity tennis tournament was playe-i to-day at 1 p.m., when Young and Heenan beat Duffield and Walls, 6-2, 6-1. The players were all Canterbury College men. The match had been postponed owing to an injury to Ileenan's hand. It was played on No. 1 court at United in perfect weather. Duffield and Walls got the second and sixth in the first set, and the first in the secand set, but they never looked like holding their own except at the beginning of the second ret, when, on a long service game by Walls, they were unlucky not to get a 2-0 lead. The outstanding feature of the game was Young's free driving, which threw the opposition frequently on the defensive. Heenan left a good deal of overhead s J i.. for his partner, but killed decisively on short balis. The losers vol--1 yed crisply, and Walls made some shrewd placements, while Duffield was steady.
