Presbytery’s Tribute to Retiring Minister. (Special to the “ Star.”) ASHBURTON, April 10 A meeting of the Ashburton Presbytery was held to-day. The Rev R. S. Watson (moderator) was in the chair. The Rev W. Marshall was appointed to represent the Presb} r tery at the meeting of the Advisory Board on May 23. On the motion of the clerk (Rev W. Marshall) it was decided to record the Presbytery’s appreciation of the long and faithful service rendered to the Presbytery and the Church by the Rev A. S. Morrison and Mrs Morrison. Mr A. G. Davidson reported that the Rev W. Mawson (secretary of the Foreign Mission Committee) would visit congregations in the Presbytery for the purpose of holding missionary conferences on the following dates:— April 29 and May 1, Rakaia; May 2, Ashburton; May 3, Methven; May 4, Springburn; May 3, Methven, morning and afternoon, Springburn evening; May 8, Tinwald; May 9. Hinds; May 10 and 11, Mayfield; May 13, Mayfield morning and afternoon, Tinwald evening. School Committee Elections. The following nominations have been received for the school committee elections which will be held on Monday evening next. Allenton—Messrs E. C. Bathurst, J. P. Boothroyd, H. G. Ferrier, J. Gibson, G. Holmes, W. James, D. H. Moore, C. H. F. Maynard, J. M'Elhinney, L. T. M'Natty. G. H. Rollinson. (Eleven nominations for nine seats). Ashburton Borough—Dr J. Connor, Messrs A. L. Jones, W. C. J. Osman, W. H. Sarney, W. G. Welsh, W. K. Walters (Six nominations for nine seats). Ashburton East—Messrs W H Robinson, E. H. Childs, W. J. Miller, H. Money, J. Cook, S. Groves, W S. Kerr, H. W. Sherratt, C. Dellow. (Nine nominations for nine seats; no election necessary).
