BAND AND PICTURES.

First-class Programme for Theatre Royal. “You Made Me Love You” (Stanley Lupino) and “ Ladies They Talk About” (Barbara Stanwyck) comprise the current double bill at the Theatre Royal. A first-class programme will be pre sented at the Theatre Royal on Saturdav. In addition to screening “They Call It Sin.” a sensational comedydrama of New York’s dazzling night life, the management will present on the stage the Tom Katz Saxophone Rand. This great combination, which is on its way to fulfil a long-term contract at the Palladium. London’s largest music-hall, recently proved extremely popular in Australia. A critic writes' “Tom Katz and his saxophone band held the complete attention of a full house at the Globe Theatre last evening. More than that, the band commanded rapturous applause at the conclusion of each item and was several times recalled. There are half-a-dozen performers, and they are all artists. The instruments are all saxophones of every key and size, but in the hands of the little negro boys they excite the emotions of the audience to a pitch of enthusiasm. The old popular tunes come forth with new and amazing vitality. Sometimes they are low and sweet; sometimes sad and sombre; sometimes radiant and happy, and at all times pleasurably welcome. They stir the emotions according to the nature of their moods and fancies. These master musicians syncopate their way through a programme surprising in its novelty and originality.” Loretta Young, who has been prominent in the casts of many successful pictures, fulfils all her earlv promise of becoming an outstanding actress in “They Call It Sin.” This film is not such a livid production as the title might lead one to expect. It is a storv of youth and love unfolded in a setting that is always romantic and colourful. George Brent. Una Merkel and David Manners head the supporting cast. Box plans at the D.I.C.
