“A SOUTHERN MAID.”

Bebe Daniels in Bright Musical Comedy. “ The Guardsman,” the talking film version of Ferenc lvlolnair’s intriguing Viennese comedy, will conclude its season at the Plaza Theatre on Friday night. iiebe Daniels, charming star of “ Rio Rita ” and other musical comedy successes, has the featured role in “ A Southern Maid,” the delightful film which will start on Saturday at the Plaza Theatre. All the lilting melody, gay romance, sparkling comedy and beautiful settings which made the British screen version of “ The Maid of the Mountains ” such an outstanding “ hit ” when it was shown here some time back are to be found again in even greater measure in “ A Southern Maid.” This- film, which is in many waj's a sequel to “ The Maid of the Mountains,” is said to be even more entertaining. “ A Southern Maid ” was also produced by 8.1. P., and again all the resources of that studio were used to make it the kind of picture that everyone will want to see. Nothing has been spared to make it a worthy successor to “ The Maid of the Mountains ”; evidence of this is the fact that Bebe Daniels, one of the brightest Hollywood stars now shining in the English sky, was given the leading role. Bebe Danigls sings many delightful songs* which add immeasurably to the success of the piece. In several other ways also this popular star is entirely suited to interpret the role of the tempestuous southern heroine. She is an actress of considerable dramatic ability, and is at the same time able to pla yin a comedy vein when required. Box plans at the D.I.C.
