ENGLISH WATER SHORTAGE
British Official Wireless. RUGBY. April 9. The water -shortage due to the absence of an abundant rainfall in many parts of Britain has caused the Government to introduce emergency legislation. The Minister of Health. Sir Hilton Young, will present a Bill to the House of Commons to-morrow and the measure will be hastened through all its stages. Its provisions will be for a limited period, and will enable existing water undertakings and local authorities to develop for public use whatever water supplies mav be found available within their jurisdiction, even to the extent of available water sources in private property. In the case of local authorities who do not possess necessary powers for the purpose, provision will lie made for such bodies to proceed without having to promote private Parliamentary Bills.
