It is officiallv added that the increases do not violate the Treaty of Versailles UP-TO-DATE FACTORIES. LONDON. April 10. Mr Hector C. By water, writing in the “Daily Telegraph,” emphasises the fact that three German firms tendered for the construction of Brazilian cruisers, destroyers and submarines, though the tenders were disallowed on the ground that such building was contrary to the Versailles Treat}’. “It is proof,” says Mr Bvwater, “tha* Germany is now in a position to build all types of warships. The German Patent Office in recent years has granted hundreds of patents dealing with naval construction, but the details of all applications concerning war material are kept secret. The Krupp factories at Essen possess machinery capable of producing naval guns of the largest calibre.”
