Donor Gives SecretarySurprise. LONDON, March 28. Mr Mverstein, a seventy-year-old j wealthy Kent stockbroker, walked into ! Middlesex Hospital, handed the secre- : tary an envelope containing a cheque for £30,000, left the room and jumped i'on a city-bound bus before the Conj fused secretary had time to do more than stammer his thanks. Mr Mverstein told a representative of the “ Daily Mail ” that the hospital was experimenting with a cure for cancer. He had heard that the institution wanted £30,000 to extend its clinic and he had decided overnight 1 to give the money.
