Janet Gaynor and Warner Baxter are co-starred in “ Paddy, the Next Best Thing,” the charming Irish romance which will be screened at the King’s Theatre Talkies, Svdenham, tonight. The part of Paddy, the madcap Irish lass, offers Janet Gaynor something entirely new, and she plays the role with irresistible charm. George Cobb and Cyril Cox. the two youths who are cycling round the world, will appear at the theatre to-morrow night, also on Thursday and Friday. “GOOD COMPANIONS.” “ The Good Companions,” the talking screen adaptation of J. B. Priestley’s famous best-selle,r of the same name, is having a return season at the Grand Theatre this week. It is a delightful show, so different from .nything previously seen in the city. The large cast includes Edmund Gwenn, John Geilgud, Mary Gljmne and Jessie Matthews. “ The Good Companions ” is everybody’s picture, but its main appeal lies in the faithful portrayal of distinctive tvpes, familiar to anyone who knows England.
