DISABLED SOLDIERS.

Exhibition of Handicrafts Proposed. A schennj for launching' an exhibition of disabled soldiers’ handicrafts, the patronage of his Royal Highness, Prince George, was approved by ’.he Christchurch branch of the Disabled Soldiers’ Civil Re-establishment Committee at a meeting yesterday afternoon. The scheme was advanced by the secretary (Mr VV. E. Headley), who said he had gone into the question of work done in Great Britain to aid disabled soldiers. He had discovered that every year the Imperial Institute held a British Isles exhibition of the work executed by disabled soldiers. To this exhibition work was sent from hospitals and by disabled soldiers all over the British Isles. It ran for a fortnight and was accorded Royal patronage. Jt was reported that the exhibition disposed of thousands of pounds worth of goods. He suggested that a proposal for a similar exhibition in New Zealand be forwarded to the he idquarters of the Soldiers’ Civil Reestablishment League for consideration, in the following terms: (1) That a Dominion exhibition of disabled soldiers’ handicrafts similar to that organised by the Imperial Institute in London each year be held either in Wellington or Christchurch: (2) that disabled soldiers from all parts of New Zealand be Invited to send in exhibits for sale: (3) that the Disabled Soldier*:' Civil Re-establishment Committee in each centre be requested to make special displays at the exhibition; (4) that an exhibition committee of prominent citizens be appointed to (a) take charge of all exhibits sent in by disabled soldiers and arrange for trie'.r proper display, (b) to arrange a suitable programme of entertainment for each day of the exhibition, and (c) to arrange for the widest publicity in connection with the scheme: (5) that rhe exhibition be arranged, if possible, to coincide with the visit of Prince CJeorpe to the Dominion, and that his Royal Highness he invited to officially open the exhibition; (H) that headquarters of the Soldiers’ Civil Re-establishment League defrav all expenses in *onnection with the exhibition; and (7) that headquarters should retain any admission charges, but all receipts from the sale of goods should go to tho people who mode them.
