Man Jumps From Parapet Into River. WAIMAKARIRI SEARCHED. The police searched the Waimakariri River and its banks last night and today for the body of a man who leapt from the stone parapet of the Waimakariri bridge on the Main North Road last night. A young-looking man was seen to make the leap into about ten feet of water. The headlights of a motor-car driven by Mr C. E. Jerman, of Christchurch, picked out the man as he leapt from the bridge. Mr Jerman and another motorist who was following close behind spent half an hour in searching the banks, but with no result.
