The usual select old-time dance will be held in the Caledonian Hall on Monday night. The Evans-Campbell Band of eight players will be responsible for the music. The gallery will be open to spectators. The box plan for reserved chairs for the Grand Old-time Ball will be on view. Lady patrons are advised to book, at no extra cost. To-night, the Caledonian Select Assembly will hold their usual dance in the Caledonian Hall. A feature will be a 10s cash Monte Carlo. o,ther features will be old and new dances. George Bradford will supply the music. Buddy Smart’s Dance Band will be in attendance at the Tudor Cabaret this evening, when a special attraction will !be an exhibition of tap-dancing by 1 June and Nola Lawrence. Novelties will be distributed at the R.O.L. dance, Carlyle Street Hall, tonight. Wilson’s Melodymakers Orchestra will provide the music, and good prizes are offered. Mr W. H. Mathison will be M-C. at the Scottish Hall this evening, when another of the popular weekly dances will be held. A first-class supper will be provided, and the music will be of a high standard. The Christchurch Corsair Social Club will hold a carnival dance on Tuesday next in the Railway Hall. Carlyle Street. Music will be provided by Jackson's Band. The Celtic Ladies’ Miniature Rifle Club will hold their opening of the season dance in the Marist Hall, Barbadoes Street, on Thursday next. Music will be supplied by Wilson’s Melodymakers. The Papanui Bowling and Tennis Club will hold Its first annual ball in the Papanui Memorial Hall on Wednesday next. The annual social and dance of the Queen’s Own Lodge, L.A.F.S., will be held on Saturday next, in the Orange Hall, Worcester Street, City. There will bo Monte Carlo and lucky spot dances. Brother Bettel’s orchestra will be in attendance. To-night and Wednesday next, at the Alexandra Hall (late Ferry Road Hall), the Old-time Dance Assembly will feature a ” Down on the Farm Night.” when Jackson’s " Hayseeds ” Band will supply the music. The special decorations will include the stage as a harvest field. Lucky spot and Monte Carlos will be featured, and a good supper will be provided.
