HORNBY-TEMPLETON.

Swimming Club Has Credit Balance. A meeting •'of the committee of the Hornby Amateur Swimming Club was held in the Hornby School on Thursday evening. Present: Mr A. E. Grubb (chairman). Misses D. Dickey, M. K. Gardiner, Messrs H. D. Moran, Alex Still, E. G. Walker, W. Moore, R. H. Thompson, P. C. Wright and J. G. Marsden (secretary). Correspondence was read from the Hornby School Committee complimenting the club on the manner in which the baths were controlled and recommending that children be not allowed in the baths on Sunday. The letter was received. The treasurer advised that the competition showed a profit of £3 3s and the dance a profit of 17s, and that the club had now a credit balance of £7 18s. It was decided to hold the annual ball in the Islington Hall on Thursday, April 26. It was agreed that' nominations for* the incoming committee be handed to the secretary in writing before the annual meeting.

Mothers’ union Meeting. * The monthly meeting of the Hornby branch of the Mothers’ Union was held at B*e Parish Hall. Mrs H. Jones presided over a fair attendance of members. Templeton members were also present. Mrs Harvey (Christchurch) spoke on the objects of the Call to Renewal and gave an explanation on the first paper of “The Vocation of a Mother.’* Mesdames E. G. Walker, Davis and Robinson were the hostesses for afternoon tea. Templeton Domain Board. The quarterly meeting of the Templeton. Domain Board was held in the Templeton Library. Present: Messrs Morgan Evans (chairman), G. A. Kissel, J. A. Crawford, T. Chappe?!, Jas.’ Leslie, C. F. Richards and W. Smith (secretary). It was decided to arrange this season for additional tree-planting to be carried Out oh the northern section of . the domain, and a subcommittee was authorised to make arrangements for the work to be done under the No. 5 scheme. Girl Guides’ Social. There was a fair attendance at the final social held in aid of the funds of the Templeton Girl Guides. The successful players were Mrs Alfeld and Mr H. Blank, and the aggregate prizes were won by Mrs Elwood and Master D. Mackie.
