SPORTS MEETING.

Old Boys’ Tournament at St Andrew’s.

More than one hundred St Andrew’s College old boys to-day held their annual sports gathering on the school grounds. Cricket and tennis matenus were played, but swimming -sports which were ter have been held had to be abandoned on account of the co*d weather. . Cricket matches against the school s first and second elevens and old boys town v. country teams were played. An 880yds relay, between school and old boys’ teams resulted: Old Boys (R. B. Hamilton. V. H. Johnstone, E. D. Newburgh, W. D. Redpath) 1, School (W. K. Dougall, S. J. Grey, D. L. Jone 3, H. Bandy) 2. In their first innings against the school second eleven Old Boys made 53 (Twvneham not out 21, Hamilton 11). Bowiing for school, Trelevyn took two wickets for 4 runs. During the afternoon those present were entertained at afternoon tea by the headmaster (Mr A. K. Anderson) and Mrs Anderson. The Town XI. made 95 in their first innings (Fisher 18, Talbot 13, Dunnett 13, Wilson 11). _ Playing the School first XI.. Old Boys made 109 in their opening innings (Bowbyes 33, Symes 24. Doyle 15). For School, Dougall took three wickets for 11 runs, Rumbold two for 19 and HUson two for 22. Meeting at New Brighton. The New Brighton Novice Cycle Club, in conjunction with the New Brighton Axemen’s Association, held a K P° r *® meeting In a paddock adjoining the Bower Hotel this afternoon. Mr D. u. The Country Club’s amateur cycling and athletic meeting was held at Rangiora this afternoon under the auspices of the Rangiora R.S.A. Club.
