Play-off in Pennant Competition. SUMNER PLAY IMPERIAL. The play-off in the pennant bowling competition took place at Christchurch green this afternoon, between Sumner and Imperial. These two clubs had equal points after the last round of the competition had been played. The green was in good condition, but a tricky cross wind made play difficult. The three Sumner rinks were skipped by Lawson, Martin and Menzies, and the Imperial rinks by Wornall, Gilligan and Buck. Lawson v. Wornall. With good drawing. Lawson took the lead, and at the fifth head was 5 up. Wornall took the next two heads, and the rinks shared the following four fairly evenly. At the end of the eleventh head the score was 9-6 in Lawson’s favour. Lawson continued to better Wornall in the drawing, scoring in almost every head, and the game ended: Lawson 24, Wornall 12. Martin v. Oilligan. Martin took the lead, and in spite of good saves by Gilligan was 4 up at the eighth head. GilligrwT took 5 in tne ninth and Martin 3 in the tenth, making the score 11-9 in Martin’s favour. In the next head, Martin took four shots. Gilligan took the next two heads, but Martin played consistently, taking one or two shots in almost, every head, and won by a good margin. Manzies v. Back. Steady drawing gave Buck the lead, and he added to his score almost every head until at the tenth head he was 5 up on Menzies, the score being 11-6. Buck kept the lead, although Menzes challenged strongly. Both rinks were playing good bowls, but Buck had the better of the game, and the game ended Buck 22, Menzies 16. Total points—Sumner 62, Imperial 47. ANNUAL FRIENDLY MATCH. The annual friendly match betweeen the Canterbury and Christchurch Clubs resulted in a win for Canterbury by 104 points to S 4. Following were the scores, Canterbury names first:— Angus 22, Maddren 13: Russell 27, Orchard 7; Memott 22, Atkinson 20; M’Nish 20, Ridley 19; Harkess 13, Dobbs 25. Totals—-Canterbury 104, Christchurch 84.
