Funeral of Late Mr T. H.
Davey.
Representatives of many organisations, as well as many friends, attended the funeral this morning of Mr Thomas Henry Davey, which left his home, 57, Carlton Mill Road, Merivale, for the Linwood Cemetery. Mr Davey was a member of Parliament from 1902 to 1914, and was the first stipendiary steward appointed by the New Zealand * Trotting Association. He was also connected with journalistic and educational work.
At Mr Davey’s funeral this morning the following were the principal mourners: Messrs T. H. Davey (Te Awamutu), and J. D. Davey* (Christchurch), sons of the late Mr Davey, Mrs L. Warnock (Wellington), a sister, Mr Murdoch Taylor (Wellington), a brother-in-law, Mrs A. Burrowes and Mr H. Dobson. Services at the house and at the graveside were conducted by the Kzv A. K. Warren, vicar of St Mary’s, Meriyale, and the pall-bearers were: Messrs A. Dickson (N.Z. Newspapers, Ltd), J. B. Norris (N.Z. Trotting Conference), E. J. Howard, M.Ps, and W. J. Walter (Tramway Board), E. W. Hasell and W. A. M’Queen (Federal Club), and W. Hayward (New Zealand Trotting Association).
Wreaths were sent by the following:: Mr and Mrs Walter Baxter, Mr and Mrs A. Burrowes and family, New Zealand Newspapers, Ltd., the Metropolitan Trotting Club, Mr and Mrs E. M. Caffin, the Auckland Trotting Club, the Canterbury Park Trotting Club, the New Zealand Trotting Association, the New Zealand Trotting Conference, Mr and Mrs J. Johnston, Mr H. F. Dobson, the Federal Club, the New Brighton Trotting Club, Mr and Mrs W. A. Pearson, Mr J. F. Owen and family, Mr and Mrs W. H. M’Dougall, Mrs and the Misses M’Coy, and Mr and Miss Morton.
