DISPUTE AT PORT.
Question of Overtime in Loading Meat.
The New Zealand Shipping Co.'s motor ship Otaio, loading at Lyttelton for London and West of England ports, under the Federal Line, was delayed in the loading of meat, last night, owing to the refusal of the watersiders to work overtime in the loading of meat but not in the loading of general cargo. When the four gangs engaged in the loading of meat were notified yesterday afternoon to work overtime they declined. Work was resumed this morning as usual. Further trouble arose this morning with the railway hands, who did not refuse to work frozen meat last evening. They demanded to be paid overtime for a certain period, and it was some time after 8 a.m. before these men started work.
A meeting of the local Disputes Committee was held at 9.15 a.m. No information was available regarding the matters under consideration.
