BRITISH SUGAR INDUSTRY.
British Official Wireless. RUGBY, April 4. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr Neville Chamberlain, and the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Walter Elliot, have appointed a committee to make a comprehensive inquiry into the condition of the sugar industry in the United Kingdom, including both homegrown beet sugar and imported sugar, and having in mind the changes in the structure of the industry which would follow upon reorganisation under the ! Agricultural Marketing Acts, to make recommendations for the structure, conduct and, in particular, a s to the application of State aid as far as that is considered necessary. The committee consists of Mr Wilfred Greene, K.C. (chairman), Sir Kenneth Lee and Mr Cyril Lloyd.
