TO LOOK YOUTHFUL.
Hair Dye Not Favoured by Christchurch Men. Do Christchurch men dye their hair? A message from Auckland states that men there are taking steps to preserve a youthful appearance by dyeing their hair, either from sheer vanity or to present a youthful appearance when applying for positions. An Auckland chemist stated that where he only sold two or three packets of hair dye a month a few years ago, he now sells two or three dozen. Men were beginning to dye their greying hair, and, unlike wo men, when buying the dye had no hesitation in saying that it was for themselves. Christchurch chemists are of the opinion that men here do not dye their hair. One shop has sold only one packet of hair-dye in the past month, and another has not sold any. It may be that men here are indifferent to their appearance, or consider it unmanly to depend on dyeing. Perhaps the outlook in business is different, and older men ‘are preferred for responsible positions. The Auckland message states that men have their hair waved regularly, and that some have their eyebrows touched up. Beauty parlours in Christchurch occasionally are called upon to wave men’s hair, but their eyebrows have not yet called for attention.
