DRAINAGE BOARD.
No Control Over Boating People. The Christchurch IVrainage Board met last evening. There were present: Messrs IT. O. Livingstone (chairman), J. S. Barnett, W. C. Large. H. J. Otiey, J. W. Beanland, Charles Hill, W. J. Walter, IT. Carter and E. H. S. HamilThe Works Committee reported that an opinion had been received from the board’s solicitors to the effect that it had l no power to regulate or interfere with the use of the river by boating people. Regarding the extension of the sewer in Golf Links Road, Shirley, the engineer reported that about thirty-one chains of sewer would be required. The estimated cost was £1370.
