Members of Opawa Club Win
at Akaroa,
On Saturday, five full rinks from the Opawa Bowling Club motored to Akaroa to play a match against the local club, which they defeated by 142 points to 100. Williams, M’F’arlane, Williams (s) 19. Newton, Goring. Frisk, Rutledge (s) 39; Priest, Taylor, Petersen, Kingston (s) 15. Billens, Wilkes, Weastell. Pernberthy (s) 16; Wright. Narbe.v, Munro, Clements (s) 12. Eastwood, Preece, Burgin, Tregartha (s) 35; Manson, Aldridge, Rhodes, Paterson (s) 23. Mixed Tournament. Probably the largest gathering of lady bowlers yet seen in Christchurch assembled on the Redcliffs green on Saturday, when seventy-two players took part in a mixed tournament. The green was in excellent order, and keen competition prevailed. The winners of the final were:—Mrs Hadley, Mrs Ramsay, H. Reward and W. r>. Ramsay, and the runners-up were:—Mrs Newberry, Mrs Sampson, Louttitt and S. Pearce. At the conclusion of the games, Mr Ramsay, on behalf of the Bowling Centre, stated that the centre was in favour of these tournaments being held. The catering was undertaken by the ladies’ section of the club. Women’s Bowling. The following will represent the Linwood Club in the interclub matches tomorrow. at 2 p.m.:— A Team v. Spreydon A. at Lin wood— Miss Blaokham. Mrs Cusack. Mrs Smith and Mrs Sneddon. B Team v. Beckenham A, at Linwood —Mrs D. Dickson, Mrs G. Dickson, Mrs Rowntree and Mrs Olliver.
